The Carrollton Housing Authority Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program is a rental assistance program for low income families. The HCV Program is funded from Federal dollars that is dispersed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The participants are chosen from a waiting list. The waiting list is open periodically and the dates are announced in the Times Georgian classified section. Eligible families must keep their application up to date. All changes must be reported in writing.
When a family is chosen, they are able to move into a home of their choosing based on their qualifications. Once on the program, all changes regarding the family composition or income must be reported by the 20th of the month in which the change occurs. The family will be recertified on an annual basis. The unit they choose to live in will also undergo an annual Housing Quality Standards inspection.
Landlords interested in placing their units located in Carroll County may fax the information of the unit (i.e. location, bedroom size, number of bathroom and amenities) along with your name and contact number to 770-834-8708 attn: HCV Department. The information will be placed on a landlord listing which will be distributed to participants looking for housing. Each participant is able to choose where they live.
The Carrollton Housing Authority HCV Program has consistently been rated as a High Performer by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. To be rated a high performer; the combined total from fourteen aspects of housing management must rate a score of 90 or above. The Carrollton Housing Authority has earned a Section 8 Management Assessment Program (SEMAP) Score of 96 for the 2007 fiscal year.
