The Carrollton Housing Authority Abstinence Education Program will be hosting its 4th Annual Teen Summit Event on September 18th, 2010, 11:00am to 4:00pm. This event is free and open to Carroll County teens between the ages of 12 and 18, their parents, educators, and community leaders. We are expecting a turn-out of 500+ individuals and we are writing to ask for your support.
The purpose of the summit is to educate our youth on the importance of making smart and healthy life decisions. This year’s theme is entitled the H.Y.P.E Youth Summit 2010, which is an acronym for Helping Youth Pursue Excellence. It will be an opportunity for teens to experience a positive youth movement pertaining to healthy decision making, goal setting, self-discipline, abstinence, positive character, and much more.
The summit will include parent workshops and a ton of interactive games for the youth to participate in. We will also be raffling door prizes (including desk-top computers) and other digital, teen-friendly items. Parents will also have raffle opportunities for household items and gift cards.
The event is absolutely FREE and everything is all-inclusive.
We hope to see you and your youth there. Thank you again for your generous support of our efforts in working with teens, families, groups, organizations and communities. The Carrollton Housing Authority Abstinence Education Program will be hosting its 3rd Annual Teen Summit Event, planned for September 12, 2009. This event will be enjoyed by all who attend. It is an opportunity for teens to experience a positive youth movement pertaining to Self discipline, Willpower, Abstinence and Goal Setting.
Our theme for this years’ summit is called SWAG (which stands for: Self discipline, Willpower, Abstinence and Goal Setting). It’s a term that means "the way in which one carries or presents ones-self." After this event, teens will learn that in order to carry/conduct themselves in the best possible way, it will require self-discipline and willpower. They will also learn how abstinence will benefit them in their walk and how having goals will keep them on track and focused on their future.
Parents are welcomed to this event. We will be conducting a parent workshop about the benefits of abstinence and how to talk with your teen! We will have door prize drawings throughout the event food, entertainment, and much, much more!
Again, the summit is free and open to the community. We hope to see you there!!
If there are any questions concerning this event, speaking engagements, and/or enrollment, please feel free to contact me, at (770) 834-5510 ext. 10.
